Installing the rebuilt engine

September 2007

I spent my summer holiday installing the rebuilt MEL 462.

I had two set backs when we tried to start it. First the battery, battery cables and starter solenoid had to be replaced because they were all worn out... the engine would turn over but wouldn´t start. Second the front engine oil seal developed a leak after the power steering pump pushed it inwards enough for the oil slinger plate to grab and eat it. Causing a minor oil spill during break-in of my lovely rebuilt motor.
